1991
Mobitel is founded.
Mobile telecommunications are launched on Mobitel's NMT network.
Mobitel is entered in the register of companies.
1992
16 base stations from Croatian NMT network are connected to the Slovenian network.
1995
PTT Slovenije is divided into Pošta Slovenije and Telekom Slovenije. Telekom Slovenije, p. o., is established as an independent public company.
Mobitel starts testing the GSM technology.
Mobitel acquires the status of the national mobile telephony operator.
Telekom Slovenije introduces the ISDN technology.
1996
Telekom Slovenije establishes an internet division – Slovenija Online (SiOL) and starts selling internet connections.
Mobitel becomes a full member of the international GSM MoU Association.
Mobitel starts constructing and launches the GSM network.
Mobitel completes the first international roaming service.
1997
The Act on Telecommunications is passed.
Mobitel establishes the user support center and participates in socially responsible campaigns: “Where has everybody gone?”, the “Driver to Driver” club, and first “Free as a Bird” competition (in collaboration with BirdLife Slovenia).
1998
Telekom Slovenije is privatized in line with the Ownership Transformation of Companies Act.
Telekom Slovenije is transformed from a public enterprise to the Telekom Slovenije, d.d. public limited company.
Mobitel introduces text message service.
Mobitel reaches a milestone of 100,000 GSM subscribers.
Mobitel presents the Mobi pre-paid system.
1999
Telekom Slovenije establishes a subsidiary – SiOL d.o.o.
Telekom Slovenije introduces Centreks and Geocentreks.
Mobitel introduces an additional dial code – 031.
Mobitel introduces access through the 18 18 18 call number.
2000
Telekom Slovenije digitalizes 100% of its network.
Mobitel introduces WAP services and presents its WAP portal.
Mobitel presents HSCSD – high-speed data transfer in the GSM network.
2001
New numbering in the Slovenian telecommunication network.
New act on telecommunications and market liberalization is adopted.
Mobitel acquires the license for the GSM 1800 system and launches it, and introduces the GPRS technology on the market. Mobitel presents Moneta – the first Slovenian mobile payment service. Mobitel establishes an academy in collaboration with the universities of Ljubljana and Maribor.
2002
Telekom Slovenije finishes constructing the Slovenian fiber optics backbone.
Independent market regulator APEK is established.
Telekom Slovenije introduces the ADSL technology.
Mobitel becomes a 100% owner of Soline, proizvodnja soli d.o.o.
Mobitel is among the first operators in Europe to introduce the multimedia messaging service.
Mobitel presents Mobilatorij – mobile digital lab designed to promote digital literacy.
2003
Fixed telephony penetration exceeds 50%.
Mobitel introduces the third dial code – 051, introduces the Planet multimedia portal, introduces NeoWlan, and activates UMTS – the third generation mobile telecommunications.
SiOL introduces the SiOL TV service in the MPEG2 format and with Amino set-top boxes.
2004
Telekom Slovenije is reorganized and four regional units are established.
Telekom Slovenije has 50,000 users of the ADSL internet service.
The Act on Electronic Communications is adopted.
Mobitel and Nova KBM establish M-Pay d.o.o.
2005
Telekom Slovenije presents the Modri ADSL price plan.
Telekom Slovenije establishes subsidiary GVO, d. o. o.
SiOL introduces the IP telephony.
Telekom Slovenije acquires a 75% share in the system integrator Avtenta.si.
2006
Telekom Slovenije establishes Teledat, d. o. o.
Telekom Slovenije acquires a 76% share in Macedonian On.net.
Telekom Slovenije acquires a 75% share in Ipko Net from Kosovo.
Telekom Slovenije's shares are listed on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange.
Telekom Slovenije acquires Blic.net from Republika Srpska.
Mobitel introduces the Integral Internet push e-mail service, HSDPA data transfer, and presents Itak – a new brand for young people.
SiOL upgrades SiOL TV and presents a new set-top box.
SiOL broadcasts the FIFA World Cup in high definition on SiOL TV.
2007
SiOL d.o.o. is merged by acquisition to Telekom Slovenije.
Telekom Slovenije introduces the second generation broadband technology – VDSL2.
Telekom Slovenije begins with mass construction of fiber optic local access networks using the FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) technology.
Telekom Slovenije is awarded the highest environmental standard ISO 14001:2004.
Telekom Slovenije acquires a 75% share in Interseek, which owns Slovenian search engine Najdi.si.
Telekom Slovenije acquires a 50% share in Gibtelecom from Gibraltar.
Telekom Slovenije acquires a 70% share in Aneks from Republika Srpska.
Telekom Slovenije acquires a 75% share in AOL SP (Albanian Olnine Service Provider) from Tirana.
Mobitel begins offering the first HSUPA USB modem.
2008
Telekom Slovenije acquires 100% in the Netkom, d. o. o., cable TV operator from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Telekom Slovenije is awarded the Family Friendly Enterprise certificate.
Mobitel introduces the 3.5 mobile telecommunications generation and upgrades the UMTS network with the HSDPA and HSUPA technologies. It is the first operator in Slovenia to offer mobile television. It also presents the Povezani (Connected) price plans with bundled services, and the M4 bundle (quadruple play), which includes Mobitel and SiOL services.
2009
Telekom Slovenije introduces e-billing in collaboration with a selection of Slovenian banks.
Telekom Slovenije introduces the SiOL iO internet television.
Telekom Slovenije introduces the brand One, which brings together all services provided by its Macedonian companies.
Mobitel presents the first own branded handset – Itak Foun.
2010
Telekom Slovenije starts selling SiOL BOX, a new set-top box which brings numerous new features and functions, and a new user experience.
Mobitel presents Komunikator (Communicator) – Internet telephony with a mobile number, and introduces the most advanced data transfer technology – HSPA+.
2011
Telekom Slovenije's subsidiaries Planet 9 and Najdi merge. The new company's name is Najdi, informacijske storitve, d. o. o.
Mobitel puts up the first self-sustainable zero emissions base station.
Mobitel is merged by acquisition with Telekom Slovenije.
